Additionally, we found that BLM tumors had a significant increase in the secretory-like population, which was characterized by the expression of Saa3. SAA3 was previously reported to ameliorate dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis and maintain the expression of antimicrobial peptides Reg3g and Reg3b [77] suggesting that secretory-like cells might be linked to the increased expression of the anti-microbial peptides in BLM tumors.
