In this scenario, our study was focused on the methylation status of promoter host cell genes FAM19A4 and hsa-miR124-2 in samples collected during the local cervical screening program and aimed to evaluate, for the first time in our setting, the potential adoption of methylation assays in the management of HPV-positive women and in the detection of severe cervical dysplasia. This evidence concerns the gene TAFA4 and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia.
