Hepcidin concentrations were significantly higher in both normoxic [44.50 (23.49–56.54) ng/mL] and hypoxic [76.95 (54.14–91.28) ng/mL] groups of COVID-19 patients compared to healthy controls [8.38 (5.74–12.06) ng/mL] (p < 0.001), with the highest values in the hypoxic group (Figure 1a). The gene discussed is HAMP; the disease is COVID-19.
