Based on the previous studies concerning the role of ICPs in other diseases like cancer, we concluded that changes in PD-L1/PD-L2 expression on the surface of mDCs and pDCs in patients with EMS may lead to disturbances or even the inhibition of the proper T cell activation, and the development of immunosuppression, supporting the implantation, proliferation, and growth of endometrial tissue in the peritoneal cavity [28].
