They found that in response to IRI, IL-10 knockout mice demonstrated worsening renal function (serum creatinine and BUN) and increased expression of markers of AKI (Kidney Injury Molecule-1—KIM-1), inflammatory chemokines (Regulated on Activation, Normal T cell Expressed and Secreted—RANTES), cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, and interleukin-18—IL-18) and pro-apoptosis factors (Bax and caspase-3) [15]. Here, IL10 is linked to acute kidney injury.
