Figure 1C indicated that NCP effectively suppressed periodontitis inflammation caused by PG-LPS [23,24]. According to Souza et al., increased pro-inflammatory cytokines during PG-LPS treatment are caused by inflammatory regulating proteins such as NF-kB and STAT-3 [25]. The results of this study suggest the possibility that NCP suppressed IL-1β and IL-6 by inhibiting NF-kB and STAT-3 activation. Here, STAT3 is linked to periodontitis.
