Many astrocytic molecules (GFAP, Vimentin, ALDH1L1, SOX9, GLUL, SCL1A3, S100B, CX43, CX30, ICAM-1, CNR2, and GPR55) were decreased in the ACC, DLPFC, MD, PMC, PVC, CN, HIPP, LC, and Cb, while the transcription of astroglia-located components of the glutamate–glutamine cycle, EAAT1, EAAT2, and GLUL were decreased in the DLPFC of suicidal MDD patients (Table 2). This evidence concerns the gene ALDH1L1 and major depressive disorder.
