Currently, the assessment and monitoring of HF patients consists of the combined evaluation of clinical signs and symptoms, echocardiography, and blood natriuretic peptides (namely B-type natriuretic peptide—BNP or N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide—NT-proBNP) [1,4], whose levels are known to be associated with prognosis [5]. The gene discussed is NPPB; the disease is hydrops fetalis.
