Based on these studies, high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) including MDS/AML (MDS/AML) and AML with mutated TP53 (TP53MUT) are now recognized as distinct categories in the World Health Organization 5th edition (WHO5), International Consensus Classification of hematopoietic neoplasms (ICC), and European LeukemiaNet (ELN) risk stratification [6–9]. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and acute myeloid leukemia.
