Recent efforts to describe M.tb-reactive CD4+ T cells have focused on Th1 and Th17-type cells11, as well as a subpopulation of CXCR3+CCR6+ helper T cells (termed Th1* cells) that are more abundant among TB-sensitized individuals12 and increase after BCG vaccination of BCG-naïve adults13. This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and tuberculosis.
