In this study, we show that PANC-1 tumors harboring the GOF R273H mutant p53 were found to be significantly responsive to the 224Ra source treatment alone indicating that in certain conditions, when the diffusion of the 224Ra daughter atoms can affect the entire tumor perimeters, the presence of mutant p53 should not be a ‘molecular barrier’ to the ability of alpha particles to destruct cancer cells and abolish tumors. The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is cancer.
