Members of the ANGPTL exhibit autocrine and paracrine activities at different stages of angiogenesis, inflammation, and regulation of cancer progression and metastasis, and in particular the pro-oncogenic role of the C-terminal structural domain of ANGPTL4 has been demonstrated in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The gene discussed is ANGPTL4; the disease is cancer.
