Members of the ANGPTL exhibit autocrine and paracrine activities at different stages of angiogenesis, inflammation, and regulation of cancer progression and metastasis, and in particular the pro-oncogenic role of the C-terminal structural domain of ANGPTL4 has been demonstrated in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Here, ANGPTL4 is linked to oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma.
