Remarkably, both pharmacological (BafA1) (Fig. 4f) and genetic (shAtg-5 and shAtg-7) (Fig. 4g) inhibition of autophagy significantly diminished RSL3-induced FTH1 and NCOA4 degradation, indicating that autophagy mediates ferritin degradation in glioma cells during ferroptosis. Here, NCOA4 is linked to central nervous system cancer.
