High levels of PCSK9 and the consequent enhanced degradation of LDLRs result in a significant increase in serum LDL cholesterol (LDLc), which is a potent atherogenic factor and contributes to atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases such as coronary artery disease (CAD), cerebrovascular disease, and peripheral atherosclerosis [4, 5]. Here, PCSK9 is linked to cerebrovascular disorder.
