Although direct targeting of Gata4 for therapeutic purposes is unfeasible given its critical role in the regulation of numerous biological processes in non-vascular tissues105–109, this work highlights how the investigation of factors that increase or decrease the regional risk of aneurysm may lead to a better understanding of adaptive and maladaptive pathways activated in response to a given aneurysm-causing mutations. Here, GATA4 is linked to aneurysm.
