To our knowledge, this is the first study to investigate the association between the TNF-α rs1800629 polymorphism (-308 G/A) and CKD in a South Indian population. Prior studies on several other populations have identified a significant correlation between this SNP and CKD risk [20,21]. The present findings add to the growing body of evidence, suggesting a potential role for TNF-α in CKD susceptibility within Asian populations. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is chronic kidney disease.
