The results of our studies, including the discovery of a reverse correlation between PDLIM2 and HIF-1α expressions in lung cancer and the significant reduction of PDLIM2 downregulation-promoted tumor growth with an orally administered HIF-1α inhibitor (PX-478) indicated that increased HIF-1α activity plays a significant role in the growth of lung cancer resulting from PDLIM2 reduction. The gene discussed is HIF1A; the disease is lung cancer.
