Data mining of transcriptomic analysis of sorted human beta cells from cadaveric donors with or without type 1 diabetes (GSE121863, [26]) revealed that the level of CNR1 transcripts, but not CNR2, is 3.6-fold higher in beta cells from donors with type 1 diabetes than in those from donors without type 1 diabetes (ESM Fig. 1b). Here, CNR2 is linked to type 1 diabetes mellitus.
