In rats, myocardial infarction is associated with macrophage expansion and expression of pro‐inflammatory cytokines tumour necrosis factor‐alpha and interleukin‐1B in the stellate ganglia (Zhang et al., 2021) and stellate ganglion injection of interleukin‐1B leads to increased sympathetic activity and reduced nNOS expression (Wang et al., 2017). Here, NOS1 is linked to myocardial infarction.
