Using a parsimonious regression model, our group previously showed that periodontitis led to the increased extent of inflammation in patients with CKD, as evidenced by an ~100% increase in the odds of elevated serum hs-CRP levels (odds ratio, OR, 2.0, 95% confidence interval, CI, 1.2, 3.6; P = 0.02) (53). Here, CRP is linked to periodontitis.
