We hence decided to focus on the S100A11 function in colorectal cancer since we had already reported the S100A11 function in pancreatic cancer, where it acts to fuel the proliferation of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), yielding enriched cancer fibrosis, a pancreatic cancer trait (Takamatsu et al. 2019).
