Although we confirmed that SIAH2 could inhibit HCC cells proliferation through promoting the K48‐linked polyubiquitination and degradation of HBx, however, SIAH2 has also been reported to exhibit both promotional and inhibitory roles in HCC cells,24, 50 which may be influenced by factors such as the origin of the different HCC cell lines or the localization of SIAH2 within the cells. The gene discussed is SIAH2; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
