Stenotrophomonas, an opportunistic pathogen with increased colonization/infection in cancer patients [57], exhibited extensive positive associations with the hypermethylation of genes, including multiple TSGs in CRC, such as ESR1, RASSF5, DIRAS1, CADM1, ST5, GJB2, FAM172A, and HIVEP3. Here, HIVEP3 is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
