MAPT and Alzheimer disease: This htau p-tau accumulation, however, was completely reversable upon arousal, indicating that mice uniquely employ torpor-induced clearance mechanisms to get rid of accumulated p-tau either by removing phosphorylation at these AD specific phosphorylation sites (Ser202 and Thr205: AT8) or by removing the p-tau itself, both of which does not seem to happen in Alzheimer patient brain.
