In previous studies utilizing DNCB-induced atopic dermatitis-like symptoms mouse models, inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, COX-2, IL-6, IL-13, IL-31, IL-15, IFN-γ, thymus and activation-regulated chemokine(TARC), and thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), and others have been widely recognized as markers of atopic dermatitis in the skin1,26,42. The gene discussed is IL13; the disease is atopic eczema.
