TP53 and cancer: In our study, we observed a heightened activity and an alteration of cell proliferation and tissue development of peritumoral tissue compared to non-tumoral tissue, with an enrichment of AGE-RAGE, p53, cell cycle, cellular senescence and Hedgehog signaling pathways, as well as ECM-receptor pathway and upregulation of genes involved in extracellular matrix remodeling, all of which are implicated in cancer hallmarks processes.
