At week 4 when liver macrophages included both Tim4+ resident KCs and Tim4- monocyte-derived macrophages, Egr2 mRNA was more highly expressed in Tim4− monocyte-derived macrophages than in Tim4+ resident KCs (Supplementary Fig. 1c), suggesting that Egr2 may play a role in the differentiation of Tim4- monocyte-derived macrophages in MASLD. Here, TIMD4 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
