AHNAK and psychiatric disorder: Because alterations of p11 (Svenningsson et al., 2006, 2013; Chen et al., 2022), S100B (Schroeter and Steiner, 2009; Steiner et al., 2009), and L-type VGCCs (Heyes et al., 2015; Nanou and Catterall, 2018) are implicated in the pathophysiology of psychiatric disorders, further studies of upstream regulators and downstream pathways of Ahnak and their function in specific brain cell types would accelerate our understanding of neurobiology and pathogenic mechanisms underlying psychiatric disorders.
