This research revealed a causal association between N-formylmethionine levels (OR 1.10, 95% CI 1.01–1.19; p = 0.024), cystatin D levels (OR 0.95, 95% CI 0.91–1.00; p = 0.030), ketogluconate metabolism (OR 1.09, 95% CI 1.00–1.18; p = 0.042), N10-formyl-tetrahydrofolate biosynthesis (OR 1.14, 95% CI 1.03–1.27; p = 0.015) and sepsis (Figure 7).
