Hypoxic cancer cell metabolism under hypoxic conditions upregulates the expression of genes that promote glycolysis, such as GLUT1, GLUT3, PFKFB3, and HK1-3, while it decreases FAO, promotes FA synthesis, and decreases glutamine carboxylation; all of which contribute to increased glycolytic flux and FA synthesis while downregulating aerobic respiration in hypoxic cancer cells. Here, SLC2A1 is linked to cancer.
