Using genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9 screening, key drivers for invasion and metastasis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) were identified by gain- and loss-of-function experiments, demonstrating that high expression of Mesoderm Specific Transcript (MEST), interacting with purine rich element binding Protein A, is associated with poor patient survival via activating SRCIN1/RASAL1-ERK-snail signaling [126]. Here, RASAL1 is linked to esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
