Coupled with previous work demonstrating that a TrkB agonist, which induces oligodendrogenesis, rescues chemotherapy-induced impairment in oligodendroglial plasticity and cognitive function6 and that clemastine, which promotes oligodendrogenesis, rescues social isolation-induced deficits in adaptive myelination and social avoidance43, these findings support the concept that therapies that promote OPC differentiation could potentially be leveraged to treat cognitive deficits in individuals with NF1.
