VCAN and neoplasm: Hoshino et al. performed a comprehensive proteomic analysis of EVPs from 426 human samples (including tissue explants, plasma, and other bodily fluids) and identified a panel of tumor-associated EVPs (e.g., VCAN, TNC, and THBS2) that could be used as biomarkers for early-stage cancer detection with more than 90% sensitivity and specificity.
