The first personalized cancer vaccine approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), PROVENGE (Sipoleucel‐T), was a treatment that administered autologous engineered antigen‐presenting cells to treat prostatic acid phosphatase(PAP)+ prostate cancers.[7] PROVENGE eventually failed (reviewed elsewhere[8]), but it opened avenues for the treatment of diseases using immune cell therapy (ICT). The gene discussed is ACP3; the disease is prostate cancer.
