Human endometriosis patients and baboons with induced endometriosis have been studied, demonstrating that miR-29c expression levels were increased while the targeted transcript levels of FK506-binding protein 4 (FKBP4), a progestin receptor co-chaperone, were decreased. In addition, surgical resection of the endometriotic lesions is likely to reverse these expression changes. Here, FKBP4 is linked to endometriosis.
