The results of a previous prospective study conducted in China were consistent with the idea that TyG could be used to predict prediabetes including impaired fasting blood glucose and impaired glucose tolerance (area under the curve: 0.60, 95% CI 0.58–0.62), its predictive ability was superior to those of obesity, lipid profile, and other non-insulin-based indices of insulin resistance [34]. The gene discussed is INS; the disease is prediabetes syndrome.
