An analysis of published datasets on normal and MDS cells in humans revealed that HMGA2 mRNA expression levels were lower in normal aged HSCs than in young HSCs, and were higher in CD34+ HSPCs in MDS patients than in healthy individuals (Appendix Fig. S3), suggesting that the HMGA2 gene was activated at least at the mRNA level during the pathogenesis of MDS. This evidence concerns the gene CD34 and myelodysplastic syndrome.
