To elucidate how BKCa contributes to increasing BCC malignancy (Oeggerli et al., 2012), we utilized BKCa (KCNMA1) pro- and deficient human BCC lines including MDA-MB-453 and MCF-7 cells, and primary murine BCCs derived from the mouse mammary tumor polyoma middle T-antigen (MMTV-PyMT)-induced wild type (WT) or BKCa knock-out (BK-KO, Kcnma1-KO) BC model (Mohr et al., 2022). This evidence concerns the gene KCNMA1 and skin basal cell carcinoma.
