In this rarely described population with minimal systemic inflammatory influences, we were unable to detect the expected negative impact of their oral health and hygiene problems (such as periodontitis) on hematological parameters representing inflammatory status (CRP and WBC), anemia (red blood cell count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, mean corpuscular volume, mean corpuscular hemoglobin, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, red cell distribution width, ferritin, and transferrin saturation), and nutritional status (total protein, albumin, vitamin B12, and folic acid). This evidence concerns the gene TF and anemia.
