High blood pressure was the most common self-reported chronic disease across all countries [Côte d'Ivoire 5.4% (28/518), Nigeria 7.0% (161/2.291), Democratic Republic of the Congo 7.9% (97/1.232), and Madagascar 11.3% (317/2804)]; with 12.4% (12/97) (Democratic Republic of the Congo), 25.0% (7/28)(Côte d'Ivoire), 28.0% (45/161) (Nigeria), and 31.2% (99/317)(Madagascar) of affected HCWs in each country reporting to take angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors. This evidence concerns the gene ACE and hypertensive disorder.
