In several experimental and genetic models of hypertension, including spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) (99, 100) and desoxycorticosterone acetate salt hypertensive rats (101), hyperactivity of the central RAS was observed, especially increased levels of angiotensin II (AngII), angiotensin III (AngIII) and angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AT1R). The gene discussed is AGT; the disease is hypertensive disorder.
