All sensitive strains and resistant strains were found to significantly up-regulate anti-apoptotic (bcl2 and rb1), chemokine (IL-8 and MCP-1), and pro-inflammatory cytokine (TNF-α and IFN-γ) expression, while significant down-regulation was observed after 24 and 48 hr of infection in anti-inflammatory genes (IL-10) and pro-apoptotic genes (bad and bax). The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is infection.
