Table 1 summarizes the clinical and laboratory characteristics of the enrolled cohort. Thromboembolic complications have been reported commonly in severe COVID-19 infections. Levels of D-dimer and CRP were significantly elevated in COVID-19 patients, which correlated with severity of COVID-19 symptoms. Our study revealed a positive correlation between serum ferritin levels and disease severity, poor prognosis and mortality, suggesting that ferritin levels could be an indicator of disease severity and clinical outcome (Table 1).
