TRAF6 and autoimmune disease: It is known that miR-146a regulates innate immune responses through repressing two targets, IL-1 receptor-associated kinase 1 (IRAK1) and TNF receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6), in a negative feedback manner (20–24), and that miR-146a-deficient mice with a 129.B6, but not C57BL/6, genetic background have an elevated serum level of IL6 and develop aging-related autoimmune diseases with multiorgan (liver, kidneys, and lungs) inflammation (25).
