CRP and infection: Especially for Bacteroidetes, whose relative abundance was positively correlated with PAC-SYM scale scores (indicating constipation symptoms) and serum C-reactive protein concentrations (signaling the level of infection and inflammation in vivo) in fracture patients with post-surgery constipation, the correlations were statistically significant (Figure 6B,C, r = 0.46, p = 0.011; r = 0.60, p = 0.0005, respectively).
