The biological results showed that the incorporation of N-hydroxyethyl-piperazine linked to a phenylamino fragment at C-2 of the purine ring increased the inhibitory activity on Abl as well as the antiproliferative properties on three CML cell lines harboring the Bcr-Abl rearrangement. The gene discussed is ABL1; the disease is chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
