Recently, several new urinary biomarkers of kidney injury, such as the tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-2 × insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 (TIMP-2 × IGFBP7), have been identified for early diagnosis of AKI, anticipating a later diagnosis based on creatinine variations and the reduction of urinary output [12]. This evidence concerns the gene IGFBP7 and acute kidney injury.
