The prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), a type II transmembrane glycoprotein originally characterized by the murine monoclonal antibody (mAb) 7E11-C5.3, is expressed in all forms of prostate tissue, including carcinoma, and functions as a folate hydrolase and N-acetylated-alpha-linked-acidic dipeptidase (NAALADase), playing crucial roles in glutamate production and folate absorption [4].
