Considering that the activity of NPY- and SST-ergic neuronal subpopulations could be dependent on cholinergic innervation in the cerebral cortex [29,30] and that HF interneurons are directly related to the cholinergic system since this system is involved in the recruitment of interneurons [79], we decided to analyze the effects of these high-caloric diets on the cholinergic system of the HF.
