The conflicting results in the outcomes of ovarian cancer patients with germline BRCA1/2 mutations and the fact that some studies showed better survival in wild-type patients [25,26], while some BRCA1 patients were resistant to platinum-based chemotherapy agents [27], showed that not all ovarian cancer cells with BRCA1/2 mutation exhibit homologous recombination deficiency, thus further investigation was needed. The gene discussed is BRCA1; the disease is ovarian cancer.
